South West Express operate a modern and well maintained fleet of vehicles with a proven record of reliability due to our strictly adhered to our “time and/or kilometre based” replacement policies. Our committment to meet (and where possible exceeding) vehicle emissions requirements is demonstrated by our current fleet of prime movers being 100% Euro 5 and moving to Euro 6 in 2017.
Every one of our vehicles is subject to a strict replacement policy that sees them being replaced as they reach either 5 years of service or 750,000 kilometres.
South West Express currently operates a modern fleet of vehicles totalling over 30 trucks in various configurations including:
- 20 x Euro 5 / Euro 6 Compliant Prime Movers
- 4 x 48 Pallet capacity B-Double and Dog
- 5 x 36 to 46 Pallet Capacity Road Trains.
- 2 x 34 Pallet Capacity B-Double.
- 8 x 22 and 24 Pallet Semi Trailers.
- 15 x Rigid Delivery vans catering for 3 to 12 pallets capacities
- 3 taught liner A trailers
- 2 x 20 pallet FTE trailers
- 2 x 22 pallet FTE trailers
Keeping a fleet of this size on the road requires a careful focus on maintenance. To this end our team of mechanics operate out of our Bunbury Depot performing all scheduled preventative and remedial maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.
One example which best demonstrates South West Express’s commitment to excellence, is our approach to tyres. With hundreds of tyres hitting the road each day, maintaining and replacing these can be a big issue for transport operators. At South West Express, we only use “cleanskin” tyres. Through careful negotiations with our suppliers, we have minimised the additional costs associated with this, but have completely eliminated the extensive repair cost to equipment caused when re-tread tyres delaminate at speed. Most importantly it has improved our ability to consistently provide our customers with freight services that are totally reliability and always on time.
